Mel came to Columbia, SC in 2005 to pursue her master’s degree in social work from USC. After completing her degree, she landed at Vocational Rehabilitation, where she worked with people with disabilities for 5 years. She then transitioned to acute hospital care as a medical social worker, which eventually led to a leadership position.
After serving six years in a hospital setting, Mel joined the CarePatrol team in 2018. She is a valuable member of the team and is our go-to person for complex medical situations and communications with other social workers throughout the greater Columbia region. She has clinical designation through NASW (National Association of Social Workers) to work with older adults. 
Her hobbies include cooking for her family, gardening, yoga, and tent camping. Despite being advised of the unwritten rule in SC that she should “pick a SC college football team”, she is strong in her commitment to the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
